STATION HENRI 24 - RÉINVENTER PARIS 2
As part of the second edition of Reinventer Paris competition promoted by Paris City-Hall we’ve proposed to make the first prototype of a Service Station for Active Mobility that will serve the new network of greenways running on the river banks of Paris.
The proposed new greenways will serve bikes, scooters, runners and all new human powered transport tools, with or without electrical assistance.
This first station is positioned in a dismissed car tunnel on a former urban highway passing trough Port Henri IV riverbanks in the 4th Arrondissement, not far from Bastille and with a direct view on Notre Dame.
In 2017 the city hall of Paris closed this highway to cars and transformed it to a 7,7Km pedestrian and bikes linear park called « Parc des Rives de Seine ».
Our project was selected as it has reconciled the two main uses of the area: Leisure and sport for people during the day and river logistics during the early morning.
The goods arriving by electrical boats to the river port Henri IV and from there distributed in the city center by cargo bikes through our micro hub platform.
Our proposal of a network of greenways and stations servicing all Paris Region, made it's way and thanks to a coalition of bicycle associations, the construction of 650km of bicycle lanes was recently announced by the authorities to backup the large public demand and the ambitious goal of the city mayor in term of decarbonated transport and reduction of the place of the cars in the city center.
The project has an hybrid program evolving during the 24 hours, depending on the day of the week and according to the different uses of the riverside through the seasons of the year:
SERVICE-STATION Infrastructure positioned on the Seine riverside, intended mainly to provide the necessary services for river and land transport, Active Mobility (non-motorized) Shared Mobility and Sustainable Logistics: Services, information, accessories shop, filling station, charging station, self-service rentals, small mechanics and troubleshooting, toilets, groceries, catering, wifi, etc.
RIVERSIDE-STATION Leisure and sport station located along the river Seine with spaces organized for the reception of visitors (water games, cloakrooms, entertainment, rental of sports equipment and active mobility (athletics, roller and skate, cycle, triathlon, surfing, climbing, etc.);
UNDERGROUND-CULTURE STATION Shared place of creation and experimentation of the underground culture equipped with projection and sound systems allowing to host performances of art, theatre, music, sport and also culinary (Myciculture, Heliciculture, etc) and architectural installations.
OBSERVATION-STATION Station monitoring the quality of the air and the quality of the Seine river water in conjunction with the city City plans to make accessible to swimming the river and more generally to improve the quality of the air in the city.
